Cuisinart food processors have lasted for years of regular use according to some reviewers comments.  Newer ones like this dual purpose blender/food processor are well designed and a lighter than the older versions. Apparrently it can be a difficult to get the top on at first but after a handful of attempts with it empty to check out how the mechanism works you'll get the hang of it. One reviewer said it would handle any blending/processing job they gave it give it including baby food and very thick smoothies.
